The Conservative Party has upgraded the technology used by staff at its new headquarters in London.
Sixty flat-panel Liquid Crystal Display (LCDs) and three 46 inch plasma screens manufactured by CTX have replaced old-style CRT monitors. The streamlined LCDs will lead to space-saving efficiencies, a cooler environment due to lower heat emissions and a sleeker look and feel to the office layout.
The new-look screens are part of an office move being carried out by the Conservative Party and will be installed in the press office and call centre. The Black and Silver colour, 17 inch monitors will provide superior picture quality, built-in speakers and free-up desk space for employees.
The three plasma screens are wall-mounted to ensure that the press office can easily view breaking news and political events.
“We are using the move to new premises to modernise all facets of our office facilities,” said Maurice Saatchi, chairman of the Conservative Party. “The monitors used in our previous offices were not only old-fashioned but their size meant we were working in a very cluttered environment. The screens manufactured by CTX have made the world of difference to the space we have to work in and have made our press office and call centre look much more stylish and up-to-date. We are delighted that they have made such a difference.”
“CCO faces the same issues as many businesses in the private sector – old-style, cumbersome technology in an environment which needs to be buzzing and dynamic,” said Martin Kent, UK sales director at CTX. “The flat, sleek design of the flat-panel screens and the improved performance of the monitors themselves has been welcomed by employees. They fit in superbly with the fresh, modern look at feel of the new HQ.”

Europe: a continent glued to
the box
home cinema
and multimedia systems fuel three out of four weekends in the
lounge
Once regarded as a continent of
culture vultures, more than three-quarters of Europeans now spend
more time ‘in’ compared to a year ago. That’s according to a survey by CTX, which found that more
than 60% of Britons, Spaniards, Italians and Dutch respondents prefer
to stay at home for at least three weekends per month. Furthermore,
over 90% of respondents said that watching DVDs with friends, chatting
on the Net or playing computer games had encouraged this trend. The display specialist said lower prices and developments in home
entertainment technology and the increased availability of multi-functional
devices were also behind the rise in hours dedicated to staying in. “People no longer need to leave the comfort of their own home
to appreciate high-quality entertainment and an interactive atmosphere,” said
Martin Kent, sales director at CTX. “Home entertainment is
now seen as a way to socialise rather than a second option to going
out, and all in one devices are a practical and aesthetic solution
to support this growing trend.” “The growth of interactive TV, the improvement of in-house
projectors and the increased availability of digital TVs have shaped
this trend. Also broader coverage of sporting and international events
such as Euro 2004, which UEFA expects will draw in millions of viewers,
the Olympics, and the increased availability of films and music ‘on
demand’ through broadband are also an influence. “2003 was the year when manufacturers embraced home entertainment
technology and developed the all-in-one concept with Web cams, TV
capabilities and connections for PCs and Macs being integrated with
standard design. 2004 is the year that consumers are taking control
of that same technology to revolutionise the lounge,” continued
Kent. For more information about CTX Europe, please visit http://www.ctxeurope.com |
